Summer Solstice marks the day of longest daylight. The presence of the sun is at its peak.
We are more aware of the fire element being present and the plants are blooming.
We are celebrating life and fill our days with joy, love and singing.
We are ready to bring our soul dreams into manifestation and grow them into maturity.
Below you find a document which you can use to celebrate this sacred time and make your reflection.

Today is a beautiful opportunity for celebration! On our journey around the wheel of the seasons today is the day of spring when we take the day to stop, to turn towards ‘the center’ – the center of the wheel – where spirit offers us wisdom.
The planetary constellation offers us a place of perfect balance. The moment of cyclic movement where all is still. Like in breathing, the exact moment when inhalation becomes exhalation.
From here we have access to all opposites in an equal way. Our soul parts which hold our dreams and gifts. We can reach for those parts and bring their wisdom into the present moment.
On spring equinox, we plant the seeds of our gifts, dreams and ideas to take root. In my ritual to honour and celebrate this day I will plant a seed. As it put the seeds into the earth, I make my declaration of intension out loud to the universe to bring beauty and gifts I will cultivate.
Season of transition – being in movement.
Wisdom of the seasons – teaching
The medicine and wisdom offered in the wheel of season teaching is a source of endless inspiration and accessible to all.
Element: Air: Mental – whisper of insight
Messenger of medicine – incense, of prayer – smoke of fire

Listening to the grandmother, the elders and ancestors – taking their wisdom – holding it in our heart for long enough to feel it awakening in the today and now, then bringing this wisdom into our world and into the process of co-creation in a beautiful way.
As I am getting ready for my Imbolc ritual, I can feel the new ideas growing and stretching to burst into new life like the seeds in the ground.
The rising sun and full moon energy are bringing an energy of activity. So, just like Pachamama, I am entering into the dance of balance of patiently waiting for the right moment and bursting with activity to begin the new cycle.
Here are suggested questions to ask yourself for your own Imbolc reflections:

NEW! - Journey with the Sacred Water
This winter the sacred spirit of the element of water touched me deeply and taught me gently.
To express my gratitude one journey session each season will be dedicated to the sacred water element. On my blog I will share rituals, songs and teachings from different traditions on this element.
Shamanic practise is a spiritual practise which has existed for hundreds of thousands of years.
In this practise everything has spirit. Places, plants, animals, elements everything!
Shamanic journeying is a practise of communication with spirit.
When we journey, we journey between ordinary and non-ordinary reality.
The practise of shamanic journey is a cross cultural way of working with spirit. Which means that you will find this technique in all indigenous cultures across the world.
The practise of journeying helps us get guidance and inspiration to our life’s question and challenges. It is a source of peace and healing. It is a way to our inner wisdom and understanding of who we are.
I feel in today’s world one of the most precious benefits of shamanic journeying is to regain trust and confidence in our inner wisdom. We learn how to read the signs and listen to the messages spirit sends us.
Who can journey?
Everybody. Absolutely everybody. I have never seen anybody who cannot journey. When you start journeying you might encounter obstacles or question yourself, but with time you will gain in confidence and connect to a tool which will change your life for ever, for the better.
How to journey?
The cosmology of shamanic journeying is expansive and can be complex. There is much to learn, and we never finish our discovery.
However, to get started you will need to follow only three simple steps.
The non-ordinary reality is described in three worlds, the lower world, the middle world and the upper world.
The lower and upper worlds are a safe place filled with compassionate beings which are there to help and guide you. The middle word is the spirit world of our now reality and therefore is inhabited by spirits which have selfish reasons and are not always there to help us. We need to journey with care and protection in the middle world. It is therefore good to have reasonably good experience in how to journey, a good relationship with your helping spirits and ideally someone with experience who can help you navigate the middle world. So, for now, as you start, stay in the lower and upper world for your journeys.
To journey to the lower world your intension is to enter into the earth and follow a path which leads you to your power spot.
First step: is to choose a point of entry – a doorway, from where to start your journey. It is your doorway between the ordinary and non-ordinary reality.
This should be a place you know, which exists in reality and you have visited at least once in your life. It should be a place where you felt save and comfortable. Doorways are generally, a hole in the ground near the roots of a tree, a large rock, a tree, a body of water, a cave.
Choose the first and strongest image which comes to your mind as you think of your options.
Second step: once you enter through your doorway, a path will open itself to you. The pathway will lead you deeper underground. It might be a tunnel, a stairway, an underground river… this will become clear once you journey for the first time.
Third step: once the movement into the earth will slow down you will arrive at a place which is your power spot. This is a place of comfort and very personal to you. When you first discover this space, you will take some time to look around to see what is there and what it is like. It might look like a place in nature, there might be presence of an element, a fire, a river or lake, the ocean. It could also simply be a feeling of comfort or a presence.
To journey into the upper world, you will look to find a way up. Like a rainbow, the rising smoke of a fire, the sun ray braking through the clouds, a tall tree reaching into the sky, a bird which carries you up. And you will expect the sensation of some sort of barrier or membrane which will give you confirmation that you have transitioned from the ordinary to the non-ordinary reality of the upper world.
how do I know I am doing it correctly?
It is important to remember that every person has a very unique way of perception. Some see images, others sense messages within their physical body or perceive messages simply in form of ‘knowing’.
One of the most common difficulties of journeying is the expectation of seeing the way we watch movies or to compare our way of perception with that of another person.
Another obstacle is doubting what we receive and thinking we are making it up.
Both can and will be overcome through regular practise which will build confidence.
what to expect
While journeying we will receive messages and communication from spirit in many different ways and on many different levels. It is important to allow yourself to be receptive. When we journey, we are there to collect impressions an all levels. Some of the interpretation and some of the meaning will reveal itself once we have returned from the journey, just like in a dream. Like with dreaming, the depth of the message will continue to become clear later.
Journeying is a process in which we will stay engaged.
We will direct our path, our conversation with spirit, continue to ask questions, developpe ideas and search for answers.
The art of crafting a question and setting intension for your journey is something to develop over time and will contribute greatly to the quality of communication with spirit and the accuracy of the answer you will receive.
Your first intension should be to discover your pathway and power spot. Followed by meeting you spirit guide.
It is good to prepare your space and take some time to relax before getting ready to journey.
You might like to go for a walk before, do some breathing or short meditation. Burning some incense, playing the rattle or drum, ringing some bells helps to create a calm environment and a calmer mind.
So now, all there is left to say! Go journey and discover the beautiful world of communicating with spirit…
As we rush and move through life, negotiating between work and family, our need for sacred space, calm, reflection and being connected often get's lost. Until!! We feel the stress wearing us down. We start feeling exhausted, bad temperate, less patience, less joyful. Trying to make time to re-connect, to remember what we love, to find what nourishes us demands often some effort. We have to find the time, move things around, push hard to make space and establish boundaries. Making this effort in a time when we are already exhausted often only happens when all the alarm bells go off!
Sometimes it is easier to go through extremes. We wait until life forces us to act. Finding a healthy balance often is more difficult. But ultimately so much more rewarding.
Know that tending a sacred space is a commitment like a very important relationship. It takes time and effort, in return you receive love and support.
Why create an altar space ?
Tending a sacred space brings magic into your life.
Where is the right space for an altar?
Depending on traditions you will find all sorts of dos and don’ts regarding an altar space.
If you are feeling worried or anxious about what is right or wrong, you are no longer following a heart inspired creative process.
However, some basic points should be followed.
Avoid clutter, clean it regularly, make sure it is safe (candles or incense)
When you create an altar in nature make sure you do not pollute the environment (use only natural sustainable items which either come from nature or can decompose naturally); make sure your set up does not pose harm to the animals (make sure they cannot get caught up in your set up. Anything you leave behind as offerings which animals are likely to eat should be safe)
Keep it simple
Keep it meaningful
Keep it relevant
How to tend my sacred space
Examples from my experience:
I started with a meditation area and a small altar. Pictures and elements on my altar where much inspired by the teaching of the linage from which I learned my meditation practise.
Over time I removed and added elements to finally create a space which reflects my character and practise. Deeply spiritual but very relevant to me.
I have created different sacred spaces:
A personal meditation space which I keep very private.
An ancestor altar space dedicated for a very specific practise of ancestor healing and connection.
An outdoor earth goddess nature space in my garden, dedicated to the spirits of nature and the spirits of the location.
A more pagan altar space dedicated to other spirits which connect me to my lineage and community circle work.
I create temporary sacred spaces for different activities. Some are in support for short prayers or sharing circles. Others are offering to the nature spirits created from flowers, leaves and other elements which I collect in nature which once created I leave behind.
Others stay active for a period of time, when praying for a particular time period, or preparation time for a ritual or ceremony.
Some are dedicated to the period of a season and will be dismantled when the period or season is over. I will choose time of installation and dissolution and create a little ritual for both, placing a clear intention and giving thanks.
My personal altar spaces I keep very private. Below I share with you temporary spaces which I created at different times and some items for this purpose.
